What's a good detergent to whiten whites, also one to keep colors from fading?

Has anyone tried Tide w/ Bleach Alternative. They say it's supposed to be good for both.

I hae used it for years, it is the only thing I buy. It was rated number one in the cunsumer magazine. It even gets my greasy jeans clean, I just add a little extra for that.

I add baking soda to my white wash. It helps when you are in a hard water area.
