I went to the ER last night and they did blood work and a Sonogram, the said the HCG levels were good and the sonogram was consistent with the 6 weeks mark, however there was no Heartbeat...The ER Dr. said that this could be normal due to that I am only 6 weeks. Anyone else not have a heartbeat at this stage of the game????

It can be normal - sometimes the fetus could be tipped or faced the wrong way or your abdomen is just a little too big, etc. (The fetus is extremely small at this stage, so any little thing can make it more difficult to hear the heartbeat.) You could try asking for a transvaginal ultrasound. It is sometimes easier to get a heartbeat that way. Otherwise, just try to relax and not worry too much. A lot of worrying can stress both you and your baby and cause more problems. In a few weeks the sonogram can be performed again.

The same thing happened to me. Unfortunatly I miscarried at 8 weeks, the same time that the cramping and the bleeding was occurring.
If the doctor said that it could be normal I would listen to them. However, my doctor also told me that the bleeding was normal, but I went to the ER anyways, my ultrasound showed no heartbeat, but they told me that it could be normal, and the next day bleeding and cramping got worse.
I had a ultrasound the next day and I had fully miscarried. There was nothing left.

I really hope that this is not the case for you, but if it is just know that God works in mysterious ways. Good Luck, I hope everything works out for you.

It is normal not to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. Relax. It is out of your hands, and not seeing the heartbeat doesn't mean anything. The fact that your hormone levels are good is more important. Have your HCG levels checked again in two days to make sure they don't drop. If they don't drop, then I wouldn't worry.

they can't hear a heartbeat yet. I went a 6-8 weeks to the dr. and they tried to hear on. They sent me for a sonogram and the tech. said she wished they wouldn't even try to hear one until at least 10-12 weeks cause it makes people panic when they don't hear one. The baby was fine

I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and there is no heart beat yet. I'm also pregnant with my third child--with my first two they couldn't hear a heart beat until 10-12 weeks--so don't worry, it's just not time yet. But if you continue bleeding or start bleeding heavily, go back to the ER. I cramp a lot--sometimes it makes me worry--but from past pregnancies--the cramping is pretty normal. (And yes I cramp really bad sometimes too.) Good luck and congratulations!!

That is pretty normal. At my six week ultrasound, there wasn't a detectable heartbeat either. If the bleeding doesn't stop, and the cramping continues today, call your doctor. They will probably want to see you just to check everything and make sure things are fine. Good luck to you!!!!

Yeah its normal not to find a beat at 6 weeks, fetus is still very small. If the cramping gets worse or the bleeding heavier go back to the ER right away.

Sounds to me like a miscarriage. They should do the blood work HCG level again in a couple days to see if it dropped.
