With my first daughter, I couldn't get a positive pregnancy test to save my life! Tested when I was 10 days late, and then again later. I finally started getting dizzy and hot and thought I had the flu and went to the obgyn- their test came up positive before I was done washing my hands : ) I was 6 weeks pregnant at that appointment. If you're not ready to go to the doc yet, wait another week, or atleast a few days, and try again with a different brand of pregnancy test.
(I'm pregnant right now and found out soon this time with the Clear Blue Easy test that actually says 'pregnant' or "not pregnant." I have never had luck with e.p.t. brand tests-that's the ones that gave me the negatives.
Your hormone levels go up by leaps and bounds the first few weeks, maybe yours just aren't showing up yet.

My husband and I were trying to get pregnant for over three years. When my period was one day late, I decided to take a test because I was scheduled to get a flu shot that day, so I wanted to make sure one way or the other. The test had just the faintest hint of a line showing positive. I had so many disappointing tests over the past three years, I was afraid to hope. But I skipped the flu shot, just to be safe. For the next four days, I tested every day and each line was just a tiny bit darker than the last one, until I finally had a test that I was absolutely sure was positive!
I say, if you haven't tested in almost three weeks, go ahead and take another test! You've got nothing to lose. If it's still negative, you should go to the doctor anyway to find out why your period is so late. If there is some kind of irregularity going on in your cycle, you should know about it anyway.

My rule of thumb is to wait a month after you should have had a period and then take the test so that one doesn't end up testing too eary and get a negative because of that. But try not to stress over it too much - that can make your period late, too! Oh, and I'd suggest changing brands of test every time you try. If, for some reason you keep testing negative on one brand, it could be different on another brand.

Actually the dr. aint everything! i went to the dr to get my hep B shot (for nuring school). and the dr. gave me a pregnancy test and it came back negative! well my period was fue in like a week! .... Never came .. I went and bought 3 preg tests. 1 for a friend and sience i was already at the store i had bought 2 for me (so if one came neg, i could take another one in a few days) well i took one that night and it came up positive right away, the urine wasn't even all the way absorbed and the two lines were their plain as day! Its best to use morning pee, so i took the 3nd one the next morning and sure enough it came back pos. ... I would recommend you waitng until your about 1 wk. late for your period to take another test, that gives the hormones time to multiply!
Good Luck!!

My friend never got a positive on a HPT until she was over 3 months pregnant - and she has 5 kids!! She always had to wait until she was like 6-7 weeks and have a blood test.

test again..if you are three weeks late now but only tested 2 days after you were late - maybe there just wasn't enough hormone in your body at that point. If it's still negative call your doctor. :) I know you don't want to hear that - but you should. good luck.

With my first pregnancy, I was really sick before I even missed my period. All of my relatives thought I was pregnant. The test was negative. Then I missed my period. The test was still negative. I was still sick. Took another test - still negative. Went to the doctor - took a blood test - positive! DUH! We knew it all along, but the home tests were wrong. Just go to the doctor if you think you are pregnant and get it over with.

until eventually an entire week after the 1st day of the ignored era, there are nevertheless a marvelous type of fake adverse try effects. yet there are a *few* women persons who won't have a marvelous urine try for 2-3 *months* of being pregnant. they do exactly no longer "spill over" HCG (the hormone detected by ability of being pregnant checks) into their urine. the only thank you to comprehend for beneficial is to have a blood try.
