I just love going to St. Augustine. You can get some nice beach time. We were there in July and had the beach to ourselves. There is also a lot of stuff for the kids to do there, the Alligator Farm, Ripleys, The Old Fort, Ghost tours ect....Most of St. Augustine is pretty nicely prices a great place to stay with the kids is the Pirate Haus located in the heart of downtown...all pirate themed rooms very cool.

I included some links and I hope this helps there are several parks around which have great activites and there is a Pirate Ship cruise that is a lot of fun the pirates storm the ship. If you contact the visitors center they will send you maps of all the beaches, coupon books ect....The water is very nice and calm beaches are clean
I also like Sanibel Island/Fort Meyers area they have the best shelling aroung and the beaches again are clean and have beautiful white sand. There are several things for the kids to do (besides the beach) and they have some pretty good deals for families, contact the local visitors center they really can help and they love to send out packets with everything to do. The water is calm, and it is warm. I myself like the east coast better then the gulf. I hope you find what you are looking for enjoy your trip!

I live in Florida and prefer the gulf coast. the water is warmer and calmer. Sarasota or Ft Myers areas are nice. I'm thinking of taking a vacation in Sarasota and I only live an hour from there! Venice, next to Sarasota, has sharks teeth on the beach. people find them all the time.

There's a place in Jacksonville, Fl called Huegenot Park. It's like a Peninsular. On one side it has an ocean, a beach and a lake. It has a motor home park. A very nice place for fishing and cookouts. The cost is 50 cents per person to enter. Look under Myflorida.com and search for state parks. Hope this helps.

my b/f just moved from Palm Bay Florida. It was so gorgeous there!! I went to see him last May and I loved it, Great Beaches not crowded, they have a place on Merritt Island which isn't far from Palm Bay it's called Beef O'Bradys, GREAT Food!! Melbourne and Palm Bay are right there together, both are great with lots to do and anywhere you go in Florida is going to be kinda pricey the cost of living in Florida is outrageous!! Just Google Palm Bay Florida which is in Brevard county and there are alot of sites. Have fun!!! hope this helps
