The game was far to easy, you could set up the battle system with gambits towards the end of the game (You have to find purchase and unlock gambits) so that all the fighting was done automatically and you didn't do any decision making. All you do is move the players and watch them kill things.
The world was vast and looked amazing for PS2.
There was no shortage of things to kill or to do.
I enjoyed the game a lot other than finding it just a bit too easy. There are no rediculas and annoying "random" battles and I see this as being the only way to acheive what they were trying to in an RPG without having multiple human players controlling the characters or having just one single character.
The game is worth your buck if your a fan of Final Fantasy and RPGs. It will take you 80+ hours to fully unlock everything in the game. So have at it.

Try it it's good. I can't say if it's worth the hype.... I played it when it first came out, at which point it was quite advanced for an RPG. I still play it through every few years, but who knows how much of my love for the game is nostalgia based. The game is good enough for me to have played it through at least 7 times since it was released though, I normally only play long games once. On the topic of the best game in the series, I personally think FF6 is the best. Used to think FF7 was the best but finally got round to playing FF6 all the way through a couple of years ago and changed my mind. As others have said FF7 is definitely a game worth playing, along with Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and Legend of Dragoon it defines the original Playstation for me.

I really enjoyed FFXII. And you heard correctly, there is no ridiculous love stories.
A few of my favorite things about FFXII:
The new battle system. No random encounters. You can see each enemy, and it's your choice to engage in battle or flee.
The hunts. Some of the higher level hunts are more difficult that the final battle.
The graphics. The environments are absolutely beautiful.
I'd recommend buying it. I loved it.

i bought FF12 a while ago. I actually like it quite a bit. The voice acting bothers me on alot of levels.. and almost every male character seems extremely homosexual(from my point of view). Aside from that i find it to be a good game. i like the new system quite a bit. So if you can get past the sub par voice acting and seemingly homosexual male characters then i would suggest it to you.

The characterization and world are more intresting at least. Its battle system is really differnt though, and I've had a little trouble getting into it. My brother really likes it though.
