I need help urgently!! I have a supervisor who is the epitome of lazy. While at work, he's always on MSN Messenger or talking to one of his friends on the phone. I'm a translator of several languages and so is he, which is VERY demanding. This guy has a Master's Degree, and speaks 5 languages. However, he always pushes the simple task of writing receipts to me even when I'm clearly busy with customers or I'm busy doing a translation, so that his MSN conversation won't be disturbed. His predecessor had a wonderful working relationship because she and I worked as a team. Now, I feel REALLY pressured everyday simply because I don't know how to tell my BOSS to pull his own weight. What do I do? How do I tell him that his laziness is driving me up the wall and making my job load ALOT heavier than it has to be.

This makes me so angry!!! You need to be strong on this one and talk to him. I know its not going to be easy, but the alternative is you become ill with the stress of it all and have to have sick time off work. Does he realise how stressed you are?. Also does he realise that if you lose your job as a result of a stress related illness he can be in serious trouble. Are you in a union? Do you have a manager that you can speak to?

If he is your supervisor, then you can't tell him without the risk of getting fired. What you can do is send a memo to his supervisor (you can be anonymous) and tell him/her the problems you're having. Having an instant messanger on the job should not be allowed in any situation and you have the right to work with someone with the same work ethics as you.

send the supervisor ants to a management seminar. the carpenter ants need incentives, like say... some time off every once in awhile... you cant expect them to work 24/7 till they die

Here at my job we have this Employee Concerns hotline number and a Business Ethics Help Line.. Check with your job and see if you have something similar to this and call and report it! You don't even have to give your name. Or just find out who his boss is and talk to him about this.

Good Luck

Convey the message in a letter written in a foreign language sent via IM.
