My job is really stressful and I'm finding it hard to fall asleep-- ESPECIALLY Sunday night. I don't like taking medication, but I am open to "natural" sleep methods such as: tea, herbs, and some other practices. I don't drink caffiene (no coffee, just rooibus tea each morning). I do yoga once or twice a week. I don't watch tv, read, or work in my bed. My week is typical-- no sudden time changes when I wake up or go to sleep. Nothing works!!! please help! I'm very open to alternative types of medication. and i hate warm milk.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Try SleepMD sold at drug stores. It's very effective and all natural, no drugs at all. I have used it once or twice for insomnia and let me tell ya, it worked! And I felt great the next morning, not groggy or sluggish. It's a bit expensive, I think it's about $30 or so but well worth it. Also, if you don't want to spend that kind of money try melatonin(it's in the SleepMD also). Take 2-3 mgs about an hour before you want to sleep.
Good luck......sweet dreams =)

hi,

Below are some options for natural sleeping pills:

* Take 2 tsp of fenugreek leaves juice with 1 tsp of honey at bed times daily
* Drink a cup of warm milk with honey, nutmeg can also be added. The tryptophan in milk helps in sleeping.
* The mixture of bottle gourd juice and sesame oil in 50:50 ratio is also an effective medicine for insomnia. It should be massaged over the scalp every night.
* Avoid white flour products, sugar and its products, tea, coffee, chocolate, cola drinks, alcohol, fatty foods, fried foods, and foods containing additives

Hope these may help you!!

5-HTP (found in the vitamin/supplement area of most pharmacies and grocers) is conducive to making one sleepy. It has something to do with leveling the seratonin levels in your brain, which also plays a role in stress. Melatonin and Valerian roots are supposed to help, too. All I know is that I took a 5-HTP once and I felt drugged and dozed off almost immediately, but woke up without the same boozy feeling I would get from, say, a Unisom or something like that.

Try Kali Phos 6X tablets (a sort of homeopathic remedy, actually called tissue remedy), 4-6 tablets at night time. No serious side effects. A sort of nerve tonic and good for stress. Listen to some relaxing music. Receieve Reiki.

Write for more information if you want. Free.

I agree completely with the melatonin. Completely natural, and the majority of doctors would recommend using as a supplement anyways. Take it approximately 30 minutes before bedtime. Works like a charm...

Stress is a sign of our times and a much more serious problem than we like to make of it.
Why get hooked on using even natural teas of herbs..when your talking about something that youll do the rest of your life such as Sleep....
Exercise = walk and get plenty of fresh air, drink lots of water.
air and wather help flush system of toxins, rebuild cells, and
the walking tires you while helping your body to get pump out those toxins that are what actually cause your body to be sluggish and unable to sleep....
