No heavy metal is not Satanic. It is just music. There are groups out there who claim to be Satanists but usually it's just publicity stunts. Heavy Metal is too silly and unselfconscious to be considered so dark and evil as Satanism. Listen to some of the lyrics - they are ridiculous ....but so much fun!
Some people (usually repressed, right wing, white Christians) think that Heavy Metal is evil because it is aggressive and loud and kids can get their aggressions out to it but it is nothing more than a release from a person's daily problems - like watching a scary movie or having a few beers. I think lot of these people are scared by it because it is a true representation of the separation of Church and State which (no pun intended) puts the fear of God into the crusty old rich, white folks who, incidentally, are the true fear mongers, not he greasy haired 17 year old metal kids!

Heavy metal can be broken down into sub-categories of metal. Each representing a different "type" of metal. Your question is very broad in scope, you may want to try and be a bit more direct with your question. Black metal, death metal, hardcore, metalcore, noisecore, these are all under the umbrella of "Heavy Metal" and some will focus more on the darker side of life or death if you prefer. **On a side note I sincerely hope your writing for a collegiate level is not for an primarily English speaking country.

No, heavy metal is merely a form of music. Many metal MUSICIANS are satanic though... but no, a musical style cannot be a certain religion. Even Gospel could be unchristian if given the right lyrics.
Now of course, most fundamentalists claim that all music that's not christian is satanic... these people are morons.

No...it's really that simple. There are certain bands that promote that kind of thing and 'death metal' is that kind of category, but you can't say *all* heavy metal music is satanic. Furthermore, for those people, and there are a LOT of them, who do not believe in Satan, how can the music be considered Satanic?

I don't see how heavy metal can be Satainc. Some bands do write some pretty heavy lyrics but in the end its just music. i belive most artist express themselves in violent actions or other things of that nature becuase there trying to reach to people who have gone through that exact same sanrio. I believe those songs are the best ones "the ones you can relate to", or they just do it for the image either way it has nothing to do with worshiping Satan

This is mostly a stereotype and no not all heavy metal bands are satanic. It usually depends on a specific band's stance. So its better to not generalize and dichotimize the whole genre because its unfair for those who aren't.
hope this helps. :)

No its not satanic. People just use that as an excuse when there kids go all wacky. I have listened to heavy metal all my life along with all other types of music and I never ran out and killed anyone or anything.

Well look at bands like Dead Poetic and Norma Jean, both are metal but at the same time they are Christian. There are a few Christian metal bands out there, you just need to keep a look out. Metal is mostly not satanic, but you have the select few that are.

No, heavy metal is not satanic, unless their lyrics say so. There is even Christian heavy metal music, and that is obviously not satanic.
