ROvers and MGs are prone to headgasket problems. Ford helped with this prob in the final years of Rover and produced a modified headgasket for rovers so if its one of these go for it. Even if it isnt i'd still give it a go if it has a brand new headgasket as this should be covered by some sort of parts manufacturers guarantee for a year. The Mgs are a nice car and look quite flash so if it is a good price i'd go for it!
Hope it goes well for you!

A lot of people get a new head gasket fitted and do the minimum financially possible (a new head is normally required) then sell the car as they know it won't last long.

Not a wise move in my view.K series suffered from wet liners sinking after over heating .The fact that it has had a gasket would make me suspicious.
