I am a pre-teen and I have two favorite series. One of the series is called the beacon street girls. It is about five best friend, each with their own personallity. The other is The Clique. It is about five girls who have a clique. They are very wealthy. The motto is "The Clique. The only harder than getting in is staying in."

Ella Enchanted is great by Gail Carson Levine. Also Bella At Midnight by Diane Stanley. Rounding out the "Cinderella" type theme..I'd suggest Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix and Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire.
Sarah Dessen is great--she's written so many. My favorite is the Truth About Forever.
Sonya Sones is great. I loved What My Mother Doesn't Know.
Shug by Jenny Han is great. I highly recommend it :)
You might also like Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.

A Walk to Remember is really good, as well as anything by Lurlene McDaniel although some of them are kind of sad. Let's see... also try looking up some of your favorite chick flick movies on a library database, most of those films are actually based off of novels. Hope this helps!

If you can understand the writing in any book, read it. By the time you get to stuff the other big kids are reading you will find that you have surpassed them in reading ability as well as comprehension of the written word.
