I have a white livingroom chair, and I need to clean it. No major stains, but the fabric is getting dirty from everyday use. Any ideas for a good upholtery cleaner for this type of thing? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!

I used to have an upholstery shop for 8 years. The makers of the materials always recommended a very mild soap and water. Something diluted pretty weak like dawn or joy. Generally the dollar stores carry TUFF STUFF and MEAN GREEN which work pretty good I found. You can always contact the maker of the furniture and ask them or better yet, call a local furniture store and ask them.

Do this on a hidden part of the chair.. like the back of a back flap. Pin pins in a square onch wide.. Soak pretty good with water. Measure the next day. If it has shrunk then you cannot use water based cleaning on it. If it is fine then clean just the back first and see how it turns out.. Use a rug doctor. Or some fabric spary cleaner.

Folex Upholstery cleaner is your best and cheapest bet. First of all, it is non-toxic and fume free. Second, it will not leave any residue which will attract dirt and dust to become mystery stains later. Third, it is an easy application, spray on agitate with a brush where it is particularly dirty and blot off with a terry towel. However, after going to all of that work to clean it, I would protect it by giving it a shot of scotchguard to keep it looking that way.

I use dawn water and a terry cloth wash rag and put some elbow grease in there. I keep going till my white terry cloth was rag stays clean. Ring it out real good not a lot of water. They look perfect I do not re scotch guard it may need too but really prefer the dawn water for in between cleanings also. Dawn is miracle stuff!
