I think Runescape sucks. The graphics are what made me stop playing (gag me.) WoW was fun... for like 2 weeks and then it got left behind along with 1,000 other games. As for Guild Wars, I have not played it and it looks pretty good. But so did World of Warcraft...

WoW, the world is big and there's a lot to do. Plus to me it's the best game to help starting players get used to the setup before sending you out on your own.
I tried guild wars and it was confusing.. i gave up after 20 minutes of running around.

World of Warcrack. It's a very addictive game. You can play it for hours on end to achieve vast goals, or just log on & hang out in a city somewhere. People who like PvP tend to like the PvP in WoW, but that's just not for me, so I play on an RP server. The world is fun enough to explore on it's own, and there's always a quest to do.
