I've tried them all on my rentals where smokers lived for over 10 years. I used to think TSP in the highest concentration worked the best, but I still had to repaint. This weekend I tried a new product called Krud Kutter available at the Lowe's home improvement center in the cleaning aisle. It is the BOMB! Full strength, it gets off the yellow brown tobacco residue. I applied it with a sponge soaked in it, wiped it on the surface, waited a few minutes and wiped it again. Rinse the sponge often as the residue collects and if you have a texture, use a soft bristled brush to get the low spots. No fumes like with TSP and not a lot of elbow grease either!

Try using Clorox clean up. Wear gloves while you are cleaning because you can get nicotine poisoning if the nicotine is absorbed through your skin.
