If you have ever been on I-10 during rush hour, then that is what a trip up I-45 is like during morning rush hour. There seems to always be an accident or two (between Nasa Rd. 1 and 610) every morning and that causes HUGE back-ups. I used to live in Clear Lake (off of Hwy 3 and Eldorado) and worked in Greenspoint. The trip to 610 was the longest pasrt of my trip. Leave as early as you can to avoid the worst of the traffic.

The traffic is slow during rush hour all over Houston. I'd invest in some audio books and some relaxation cd's. Practice your singing. If you can find ways to deal with the traffic, you're home free. If you get road rage, you're in for a lot of very, very long hours. My suggestion is to join a gym in the area where you work. Leave ridiculously early and beat the traffic, get there in 30 minutes, do your workout and dress for work at the gym. Time management can go a long way. That way you'll only have to deal with the traffic on your way home. Lucky you. You could even take care of your errands in town, such as pharmacy, car wash, dry cleaning, groceries, household shopping can all be done in town while everybody else is inching along in traffic, trying to get to the dry cleaners by their house before it closes. Best of all, when you reach home, your work is done, and you can enjoy the best of what your own area has to offer. See you soon!

I-45 traffic in the a.m. is pretty bad, but if you are working off 610 on the ship channel there may be some back roads for you to take to get away from the traffic. I would suggest plugging in your address and work address into yahoo maps and seeing if any alternates come up.
Hope this helps!

I live in League City and commute to N Sam Houston Pkwy near IAH (44miles). If leave my house by about 10min till 6 the trip takes 50 minutes. 1/2 of that trip is NASA1 to 610. That stretch can easily take 30 to 45 minutes if you're much later than that or if there's a wreck.
The trip home is actually worse. Fuqua to Nasa1 can take 20 minutes easy if you hit it after 5.
But I love League City. You're 1/2 an hour to the beach or downtown and minutes to Kemah. Can't beat it!

Don't move to League City if you plan on working downtown... unless you Park N Ride or something. It isn't worth the headaches nor the aggravations.
