people are supposed to be their own kid's best role model. I had one in my mom and I am sad she's gone! But for sheer ingenuity and productiveness in my opinion we can look at a few of the "stars" or singers because they don't have star attitude but simply are very nice people who happen to have high profile jobs in the film industry and a bit more money than most of us, if you see my point. Many of them stand by their convictions no matter what, and that is always an admirable quality in anyone. kids are going to look up to whomever is around or whomever they find appealing, so it's mostly up to parents or others in charge of our kids to help balance what they see with down-to-earth common sense, and regular people to model after
. The young guys& gals on Disney channel shows are probably very nice people, but even nice people have bad days or make bad choices sometimes! If your kid/kids can look up to older siblings/relatives, interesting adult relatives or friends, coaches, teachers, tutors, neighbors who run their own business or make a conscious effort to make a difference in the community like police, fire department, the mayor, librarians, all proving day-by-day that working hard respecting yourself and loving what you do goes a long way in life toward fulfilling any goals, then that's all anyone really needs.

My role models and inspiration are my grandmother, my mother, my sister and my close female friends.
We have to strive to become role models for our children and future generations.

It's incredibley unbalanced. On one side, they have the irresponsible pop stars and sports players whose images promote promiscuity, drug abuse and violence. On the other hand, there is the religious right that uses fanaticism, brainwashing and scare tactics to keep kids from doing "bad" things. There are no good moderate thinkers with voices reaching kids today.

The only decent role model I can think of at this point is Barack Obama. I like him, but we need more.

well in my opinion. PArents. if they are good parents of course, i'm not talking about the drug addicts, or the people who leave their kids home alone. I'm talking parents who will die for their children, work their butts off for them, strive for them, go to their soccer games, and love them unconditionally. It's hard to be a good parent nowadays, and i think kids can see what they go through and appreciate it, along with looking up to them. Good luck

yes, average people looking to create a better place for these children to grow up in. as for anyone famous, maybe. it is all relevant to what kind of person the child would like to become. parents remain the number one hero(s) in children's lives. clearly, it is up to them to expose their children to the kind of people they would like their children to become.

we should strive to be the kind of people our kids can look up to, so that they wont have to turn to the sports world or Hollywood.
