I have been applying for different jobs for some time now. Even when I was not really looking to change jobs, I always browsed the ads anyway, just to see what was there. I noticed that some companies would have an employment ad, then it would be gone, then in a couple weeks, the same company was again advertising the same position. And it has happened a few times, making me wonder why they cannot keep someone in the position. So, is it wrong to ask why they are always hiring?

Could ask why they have such a high turnover rate of employees but the truth is they probably very hard to work for or bosses are bunch of slave drivers

Not as long as you do it tactfully. It maybe that there is a high turnover rate for people in that position or that there has been an expansion for that particular dept and the company needs more people to perform that position. If it is due to turnover, ask the interviewer what difficulties the company has faced with the position so you know what to expect.

Like you, some companies just advertise just to see what is out there, even though they may not be looking for someone.

Or maybe there is a position they want to hire someone in-house, but are still required to post it for all to see, like some government agencies.

Most times the ad will still be available for any one to see for two weeks. Maybe they have not found the "right-fit" for want they are looking for.

Not only is it correct, it's smart. Good for you for figuring out the company's hiring trends and realizing that high turnover may not be the environment you want to work in.

I guess you could ask but, don't expect them to be honest about it. If they have a big turnover rate, chances are they are not going to tell you..."Well, we expect overtime all the time and only 20 minute lunches and everyone that you will work with is a total control freak..."yada yada yada. Ya know? Good luck to you though!

No. The answer to that question can give you alot of insioght into the company. If there is lots of turnover, they may burn people out and you may not want to work there.

Of course not. In this instance i believe it is imperative to enquire about all the hireing and fireing

Most companies that do this don't treat their employees well. Unless they have been expanding quickly, they're not worth it!
