Your question presumes that Christians in general should and do support Bush unquestioningly. Although this may be true of many self-proclaimed Christians, any Christian astute at knowing and following the precepts of God would know that our president is not deserving our support. His motives are power and greed. Any "zealot," as you call them, claiming that Bush's belief in "god" is what garners their support, is either a false Christian or an ignorant one.

I do not think is necessary for a president to believe in "God" but I do believe it is necessary for any president to have morals and conscience. I am not with him or against him.

What I am really cheering for is US as a UNIT. I would like to see our nation worry free, released from the fear of dying in some sort of terrorism attack; I would like to see our government focus on avoiding more nature cause tragedies (tornadoes, hurricanes, etcetera); I would like to see the unemployment rate go down to 0; I would like to see all of us talking about how WE can help to make it right but most of all I would like to see our troops come back home to their families.

We are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, let us show the world we are UNITED. The president does not make OUR COUNTRY it is US. Remember we all voted (I hope) for what we wanted, and if it is not working then, LETS CHANGE IT!

This zealot would support whomever is in office because that is respect. And I would pray for whomever is in office because that is what I am supposed to do so that hopefully they can be led by the TRUE leader.
I would never vote for anyone to take office that clearly did not admit that God was the ONE true God.
AND I would never expect any mere human to be perfect and make every decision that I thought were correct. That would be just plain ludicrous.

My vote is not cast for God when I participate in a presidential election, so why should I be bothered if Bush or any other president does not believe in God?

Why would a political leaders religious inclinations make any difference to me?

In an ideal world, people would care if he was a Heaven's Gate follower.

It shouldn't matter.

Yah I would definately support him more, however unless a president is using religion to actively preach while having a state of the union address or somethign I dont think that his religios preference really matters much.

It sort of depends...If he "says' that he no longer believes in God, does that mean that there is some sort of change in his policy as well?

If so, I hope that he denounces his beliefs and comes up with a balanced budget.

Yes. Im not religious, and I choose to support him because he's our President. If I didn't support him, you might as well put me out there with all the "America bashers". Means the same.
