i've heard it's called the "devil's sign", so does that mean the "rock hands/fingers" is evil/satanic?

They are supposed to be Devil Horns or Goat Horns. Its no big deal unless you are putting your hands/fingers up with an evil/satanic purpose. If you are just saying rock and roll, I wouldn't worry about it.

it was not a "rock" sign. It started with metal and the crowd throws the sign, the horn....I guess it could be satanic cause it is the "devil' horn you make with your fingers, but now everyone does it, ruined it for metal heads.

It actually came about because of Ronnie James Dio's grandmother. When he was a child she did it to protect herself from bad vibes people would send and she would also use it to curse people.

apparently it is to ward off the "evil eye"

I think It was gene Simmons who claimed it was something his grandmother would do to protect him form curses. he just took it and ran with it.
