I went without a period for 1 1/2 years being only 20 this was not normal for me. My periods have always been irregular and ranged from 1-4 months or so but this was by far NOT NORMAL..So i went to my doctors she tested my prolactin levels, thyroid( found that i had a slight hyperthyroid but not enough for treatment) liver/ kidney function, LH and FSH levels ect and everything was in the normal range if not in perfect working conditions, so she tried progesterone challenge on me 10mg for 7 days to see if it would induce my period and it did, so then she suggested i use a natural progesterone cream for 10 days starting from day 14 of my cycle well I had too regular periods since using the cream, but I am now 1 week late on my period and experiencing slight tender breasts, light cramping here and their, had some very light light brown spotting for about 2 days when my period should have came but that us about it..
have you ever went without, gotten pregnant when you started up again??

I've had irregular periods all my life and one time no period for a year!! I was married for 7 years, never got pregnant, I had a boyfriend with 3 kids, never got pregnant with him either, then I met the man I'm with now and we were together only 5 months and I got pregnant, I'm 37 now with a 2 year old daughter! So there is hope, just keep on having sex daily, don't miss a day and maybe in 5 months you'll get prenant too!! Do it EVERY day thats the key! Becuz there is only one day in the month you can conceive, so do it daily!!

I went for a year and a half without a period also, but have had MAJOR problems getting pregnant since! My problems were caused by a severe insulin resistance which led to PCOS. I do not know of anyone who has had the problem, and actually was able to concieve immediately, or without meds to help it along!
If you are ttc, then good luck and congrats! If you weren't trying, then congrats and remember how many people are doing everything possible and spending their life savings to have kids right now, you're lucky-count your blessings!!!

Three Questions--and they should be in this order:
1 Did your doctor test you for PCOS?
2 Did your doctor check your pituitary gland? (An optometrist can do this without x-rays.)
3 Did your doctor check for tubal scarring that is preventing ovulation?

Treating the symptoms (no period) without finding the problem will not help you in the long term.
