Sorry bonsai, I wanted to give you a thumbs up but accidentally gave a thumbs down. :(

I think im a little of both. Some things in life, such as health and illness have me very pessimistic about what horrible things can happen to my family or loved ones, and at the same time i'm optimistic that their demise wont happen too soon since they try to take care of themselves.

Well.......I'm not sure....I tend to think everything is going to turn out bad for me but I always look on the brighter side when it is a friend or a loved one. Is that weird? I guess I expect very little to go right in my life but I want everything to be perfect for everyone else. So you tell me.....Am I an optimist or a pessimist?

I can't be a stupid to be an optimistic all the time and can't be unthankful to be a pessimistic all the time. But when my efforts go waste I really lose my heart. When I lose in exams or in a family conflict I am very depressed and have to try hard to come out of depression.

Since the optimist sees the glass as 'half full' and the pessimist sees the glass as 'half empty', I'll say that it depends on what's in the glass. A glass of water is definitely 'half full'. A glass of wine is definitely 'half empty' :)

i'm candide ...voltaire's prime example of optimism...realizing the cruelties of the world, and staying happy...because theres no point to live a life full of being down...keeping yourself happy makes you realize that hey...this is crappy but I can make the most out of life...because I'm alive. Yeah...I've been through alot of bad things...but I stay optimist.
