Watch what not to wear on TLC - no i dont work for them. BUt it will help you figure out what kind of key items you need to have a good wardrobe.
Alot depends on your career and body type. A good well cut suit, with pants and skirt and then mix and match with different well made tops... always a good choice. A pair of jeans, maybe costing a little more, but that fit PROPERLY, and a GOOD bra. One good dressy dress that can be made more trendy with a seasonal change of accessories for a new look.
There is alot you can do with maybe 10 to 12 pieces. It might take a year or so to build but choose classic cuts and styles and then you can just go with fun accessories to change the "look" and not get bored with them.
If you get one really good foundation piece every month and budget about 25.00 to 75.00 for each item, you will have an amazing wardrobe. Ask a sales clerk ,at a nice retail shop that is maybe a little more expensive, to help you. Most also have lay away options to pay off things you find that cost a little more. It will be worth it... also - get rid of the crap that you know is not good but just hang on to. Otherwise you WILL end up wearing it. ick

I would start with a few basic pieces. A couple solid color tops, a solid color skirt, pants, and maybe shorts or capri's. Try to choose things you can mix and match. Accessories can be added to creat more style and keep things from looking like you are wearing the same thing all the time. Later you can add a piece here and there. I try to buy capri's rather than a lot of shorts so that I can wear them in spring and fall too. I also buy more short or 3/4 sleeves so that I can just add a jacket or some other layer during colder weather. Try not to get sucked into buying all black though. By the way, I hate these new sheath dresses I see everywhere. The only good thing about them is that they make everyone elses figure look as dumpy as mine. Good Luck, I hope this gave you some ideas.
BTW- Someone thumbsdowned everyone. I thumbs uped everyone, except the person with no thumbs down, HA!

Start with the basics first, and go from there. Start with a couple of t-shirts, camis, skorts, skirts, shorts, and jeans. From there, you can add and build up a wardrobe. I would start with black and white and possibly even khaki colors. Then you can start blending colors in and go from there. You don't have to pay a lot for tshirts or camis, you can get them anywhere and nobody will know where if you don't tell them. If you are willing, you can go to like goodwill stores and thrift stores. You can get like expensive namebrands for a dollar a piece. Yeah, some thhings there are used but if you look hard enough, you can sometimes find brand new things with tags that other people did not want because it didn't fit or the wrong color, etc. Try it out, you would be surprised.

I think you have the right idea already. Just buy a few items at a time. Things that match well with a lot of stuff (like a pair of nice black boots, a button down shirt, etc). Check out the sales, websites for the companies sometimes have sales that aren't in stores. Make sure the clothes you buy are good quality and will last.
Good luck.

Well I don't really like patterns either but I've somehoe managed. I first looked at the pattern type things and tried to find some that were plain with no pattern on them. I now have a new wardrobe. The great thing is that I can wear the dress-overs over leggings or jeans!! Perfect!

Yeah. Start buying things that are essential like underwear, just go into town and buy what you like, you don't have to change everything, but don't empty your wardrobe, instead, buy new tops and trousers from m&s....we all feel like a new change of clothes sometimes.
I think you need to gain some confidence and wear some new makes of clothing....we all have a style that suits us, be happy with what you got!
You can also be fashionable without spending a fortune!

try getting fundamentals first , so which you would be able to upload upload-ons and distinctive issues later so which you would be able to blend and tournament and create distinctive oufits with in elementary terms some issues. try getting a sturdy pair of denims , some lovable tops, t- shirts, and a denims skirt. you are able to desire a greater dressy skirt ( for events and issues and you are able to blend it with something else to make it greater casual) . Layering is fundamental- lovable hoodies, vests, blazers, or cardigans besides the fact which you desire. astounding shoes and a lovable bag can deliver the outfit all at the same time. i do no longer probably be attentive to the way that may assist you get that distinctive form which you rather desire yet i'm hoping I helped some.

Great question! I suggest you go o through and catalog all your clothes, then write down what you have that goes with each skirt, pants, etc, or what you need to go with it. Take the list with you when shopping. Start with buying a top that would go with several things, then add an item as you can. If you're short of money, try your local Goodwill store, or consignment shop.
Best wishes!

Thats what i want to know to. I have most limited too and hollister and quite frankly im over it, and want to start fresh and new with a new fun, unique style. What i did is every month,or week, i go into my closet and be thruthful. I ask my self, how much longer am i gonna wear this? Or, is this even what i like? If the answers are no, then i take them out to goodwill. I've been doing this for a while and have really cleared out my closet. So, on my birthday, i'm hopeing to go out to get (almost) a whole new wordrobe. Good shops are forever21, delias, urban outfitters, and for deals, i love ROSS, they are the best. And i will continue this process. Hope this helped!
Good luck!!!

Rules for totally new wardrobe:
1. dont clean EVERYTHING out at once
- clean out a little at a time
- 1st clean out the too tight Ts and short pants and permanantly stained stuff
2. dont throw anything out except for the stained stuff
- other stuff put in bags and put them sumwhere like your basement. you may want them l8er(trust me on this)
3. replace as you buy.
- bought a new shirt? take away the shirt you dont think you'll wear. (but make sure u save the old shirt somewhere!)
