I have Embarq DSL with an average speed of 4-5mbps down and 768k up. I've done internet speed test and they show nothing wrong. However, I cannot connect to some websites, other websites take a long time to load, and others work just fine. Any help? Thanks.

ok it might be a problem with your dns(domain name system), Meaning your connection has trouble reading some ip addresses. So go to
Start/Run/type cmd in box
when you get a black box it should bring up your username and your hardrive
right after that you type ipconfig/run
that will show u all the commands to type
try first of all ipconfig/renew
this will manually renew ur dns
if that dont work than do this ipconfig/release
this will release all your gateways and ip adresses
then do this (still in black box lol) ipconfig/register
this should reregister all your gateways and ip adresses mannually.
Once again when u type ipconfig/run it shows all your commands.
If that does not work i would call your Internet company.
Also you can go to start/control panel/network connections/ right click for properties, and mess with your speed settings and other things.
Might not work, but i would give it a try

I am having the same problems in VA. It seems to involve several states, go to the embarq forum on dsl reports there are several posts about it.
