I have a team of 9 and 10 year old girls and need some ideas for simple plays that they can remember and execute.

pick and roll its a great play because most teams at that age dont do plays. Pick and rolls are great but just make sure there good with layups.

The pick-and-roll is a good standard, and a staple of any simplified offense. It can be run with two players- typically, a guard and a forward/center.

The guard dribbles the ball towards the key. As she does, the forward/center steps up and sets a "pick". The guard dribbles past her teammate, and her defensive player runs into the pick. If the forward/center's defender switches onto the guard, she cuts to the basket, and the guard passes to her for an easy layup.

There's a number of advanced variations on that, such as:

1) Instead of cutting to the basket, the forward/center cuts to an open area for a jump shot.

2) If the forward/center's defender stays on her, the guard drives to the basket, or takes the open shot.

3) If a third defender comes over to help, the guard finds the open man, or throws it out to reset the offense.

It's not a play, but the three person weave is also a great drill for younger players.

The triangle offense!

Seriously though, the backdoor move is always a great fundamental to learn.

And teach them the full court press. Hustle and intensity can always make up for less talent.
