The term amphibolite is used for a honblendic rock in which foliation gives place to granoblastic texture. it may be result from the metamorphism of igneous (basaltic)or sedimentry (mainly carbonate bearing shale)rocks and it is often very difficult to distinguish between these two origins. The conditions of the amphibolite formation are middle to high grade regional and contact metamorphism and its characteristic minerals are hornblende and plagioclase (plagioclase more calcic than albite). it may be formed between 300-700 temperature and 5-30 km depth under pressure nearly 0.5-10 kilobars
