I bought a geforce 6600gt awhile back to upgrade my 9600 and i got it and installed it, but when i tested it on various games such as far cry it ran slower than my 9600. I deleted all of the radeon drivers and installed the geforce drivers but it still ran slower. I ended up just sending it back and getting my money back because i could not figure out why it would do this. Does anyone have any idea why it would do this?

The 6600GT is a little better then the 9600 Pro. Little strange for it to run slower. Possible motherboard settings. Sometimes there are bios updates to correct it. As for a better card, use this chart:

Well you did not give the computer model number and name. details, details, details.

So, you get a generic answer.
Possibility of your hard drive

When you deleted the radeon specs did you run the game without any card and use this as a guide. I presume you deleted the specs where it says display adapter to assure you that the radeon specs were gone and you had only integrated graphics.

Most machines come out with an intergrated card and there has to be a RED X on the intergrated computer card for the external video card to run.

There are more answers, but no model, no name, so little help.

yes i know why.. Usually nvidia is a better brand then radeon(i think) But the numbers is what u pay attention to, basically thats how good your video card is. For example i have a nvidia 7300, your 9600 is still better. So i would stick with that or get one higher then 9600. Those numbers represent how much info goes through them at that speed. Whether it's Gb or mb, or bits i dont really know. But i do know the higher the number the better the video card usually.
