My mother was beaten by her daughter-in-law whilst the DIL was living in my mother's house. She also attempted to burn my mother with kerosene ans was literally saved by the bell. My mother kept it hidden from everyone since she was afraid for over 10 years and felt ashamed. The DIL also abused her kids all their life and are now over 18 yeears of age. Wha recourse do my mother or her kids have against this woman in India. She is still living in my mother's house and my mother is now abroad. please help me put this woman in jail or a mental hospital at least. My brother died several years ago.

i am sure she is mentally sick..when she tried to burn ur mom y didnt u ppl launched an FIR??? if u'll ask her to vacant the house she can go to court...but for abuses & fight u can always complaint to police...but before that collect some evidence against her to proove ur point.

I don't know what the laws are in India, but in America both your mother and the adult children would have rights, and be able to have the crazy DIL arrested and/or sued. It should definitely be reported to the local authorities there, with as much proof as you can gather, so that they are aware of her behavior.
