Ugh, drives me nuts. I have never worn a pair of cowboy boots or a cowboy hat & I dislike most country music. I'm a big city girl (Dallas & Houston) and I wouldn't even know what to DO with a farm animal. I am well educated, speak properly and don't dangle my participles. I'm more at home at the opera than around farm equipment. Although, I do have to admit an affinity for horses.

I hate that too. I live in Houston TX which is the 4th largest metropolis in the whole country. I have a female friend from Delaware and she called me a country bumpkin everyday until she finally came for a visit. I showed her the town and she is still in shock to this day. It's funny because the people that assume that about me usually see more cows and horses than I have seen myself lol.

The same reason all Alabamians own cotton farms, walk around in overalls with no shoes on, and eat fried chicken for every meal. I have actually met more "cowboys" here in Alabama than in Texas (most of my family is from there). I hate peoples' attitudes sometimes!! LOL

This is exactly the same as assuming all British have bad teeth and raw breath (we don't by the way.....), all blondes are dumb etc etc. Everyone has their own stereotypes - Thats just the one for Texans. I know where you are coming from tho' as the bad teeth one annoys me greatly.........

It's ignorance, people haven't been there and they don't know...so they assume.

We also don't fight Indians every day. Why do people think that. I don't even own a pair of cowboy boots. I do own a hat but I don't wear it everyday.
