Nah, you aren't the only one. I can't understand why some rap is played at all. They don't further motivate me to cheer for my team or heckle the other team. It just makes me cringe because some rap the DJ chooses is slow and annoying.
For some reason your question reminded me of Drumline, a movie I watched a few weeks ago. From what I remember, the two teams that ended up facing each other at the end, one team actually played music...the other team had Petey Pablo rap for them. [sarcasm] Yes, rap totally overrides and is the main point of selecting which team should face off [/sarcasm]
But no, you are not the only one sick of rap at basketball games.

NO you aren't the only one. I'm Black and a former DJ. Rap music in excess has NO place in my basketball enjoyment. I wanna see a well-played game not listen to music, although trashy rap music.

I agree, it kind of alienates people who aren't into the whole 'street' thing. Basketball is becoming the 2nd 'world' game after soccer (football) so the networks and basketball media presenters should add some rock, international music, etc.
The NFL has it right with the dramatic classical orchestra music, a la NFL films.

No you are not!!! I HATE RAP MUSIC!! I CALL IT K-RAP music because it is complete crap! It all sounds the same! Same old lame drum beat and same old lame gorilla saying it! We need to exterminate the entire rap culture as it is a growing cancer on society! Nothing but loser gangster wannabe wimps! Doo rag wearing pants below the butt wearing overly tatooed losers! PUKE PUKE PUKE! They need to eliminate all the extra crap before, during and after the games! I hate hearing all that crap during the game. I'd like to rip out the p.a. system at all the arenas! Let all the crap rap people stay home and look at each others gay cars with spinning hubcaps! Sad thing is . . . is they all feed off each other. The professional ghetto athletes are now one in the same with the drug dealers, thugs, and so called musicians. . . they all feed each other.

i love rap music, but yeah it is like it was said earlier, alienating people who arent into that music. imagine a father brings his son/daughther to a game and the song is like some booty shakin lyrics thats not cool, as far as tv i say bring back nba on nbc and that theme music was classic, that got me pumped to watch those games, and it seemed like every one of those games were classics
