What kinda rap are you listening to?? Killing and sex is not the basis for most rap songs. Most rappers rap about the things they see, have seen, or know about. Rappers that talk about killing or selling drugs or serving time, often times, grew up in neighborhoods where that happened all the time. But that doesn't make a rap song, a rap song.
There is nothing wrong with rap music, just some rappers. There is a song by Nine Inch Nails called Closer. The lyrics to this song are more sexually suggestive than any rap song I've ever heard. I love the song.. and I'm not even a big rock fan. Ban the artists, not the whole genre of music.
Also, if you listen to artists such as Will Smith or the Roots, you'll notice that not all rappers talk about sex or killing.

If they want to ban rap, they should ban some country music, also. Have you ever heard some of the country music lyrics out there? Talking about killing their husbands, vandalizing property... So how is that any better than rap?

ok first, not all rap is negative, YES unfortunately the majority of it is. however, the beauty of America is that we are allowed to express ourselves anyway that we see fit. you don't hear people trying to ban country music, and a very large of the population can't stand it.

Against it... Rap is NOT all music but then there are people making a living out of it, and we have no right to snatch it from them

It shouldn't be banned, at least not in the United States; we have freedom of expression here. And that means ANY sort- even if it's obnoxious and vulgar.

You can't ban rap, that would cause too much trouble with african americans and other minorities.
