there are so many things you can try but i dont think there is anything that REALLY works, if you are having problems with your blood pressure then your DR will induce. Walking is really good for you and can help the baby move down, I wish there was something that just magically worked but theres not! Ive been walking/having sex stuff like that since about 38 weeks and nothing has worked for me, Im being induced Wednesday. (I'll be 40 weeks Thursday)
Good luck!

I know how you feel...I really really do...but, believe me, if this is your first baby, you will wish you had enjoyed this time more. I LOVE my babies, don't get me wrong, but I sure wish I had appreciated that last little bit of time I had to do whatever the hell I felt like doing, watching TV, reading, etc. You don't know what you have in store for you!!! And if this isn't your first, then you should know a little about what I mean, the 2nd makes having one seem like you didn't even have one at all. It is SO much harder, it's exponential. Your baby really will be here before you know it, just try and hang in there. And both my babies were induced at 40 weeks due to my hypertension. It's not that bad. Nothing's going help...only sex is proven...and you said that was 'out' so just try and relax, lay down on the couch, enjoy a movie, read a book, surf the web, whatever you want. Now's your chance!

I am almost 41 weeks. Have been doing the sex, nipple stim., walking, and spicy foods. None of it has helped at all. I do agree with many of the others, though. You need to just wait. You are only 38 weeks. I know how uncomfortable you are. My baby dropped at 37.
If your health was an issue, your doctor would be inducing.

I was 2 weeks over with my daughter, and everyone told me that if I walked in the summer heat up and down stairs or hills...just walk in the heat I would go into labor....NEVER happened...I was finally induced and 26 hours later they had to have an emergency C-Section because my hips didn't expand enough to have her. I was only out to 8... I wish I would have asked them to do another ultrasound to see how big her head was compared to how far my hip would go to expand for her.....Good Luck....The only thing I sugest is to walk in the heat, alot of other girls who were preggers the same time I was went into labor FAST like within 30 min of walking.....but it isn't for everyone!

well...I've heard that spicy food and a lot of walking is supposedly a natural way to induce labor.
I remember feeling this way when I was approaching the end of my last pregnancy. Let me just remind you that your baby will decide when he is ready to come out...you don't want to rush him!
If your doctor becomes concerned about your blood pressure, I am sure he will induce you himself :)
Hang in there!!

For one, if your doctor was concerned about your blood pressure, they would induce you for delivery, not expect you to do this on your own.
And sorry to say but every single woman in your position is miserable at this stage of pregnancy. Your not the only one!! For every day that the baby is still in utero, the better off he/she is. Trust me doctors/midwives know best!!

Walking helps but so does nipple stimulation and if you have a curb outside your house or a step inside you house just go up and down the one step. That seems to help also.

Eat spicy food.
Walk up and down some stairs!
I know how you feel because I'm 39 weeks!
Good luck!

go sit outside and get you a bucket of Ice or run water through a water hose like right now and you'll have that baby tonight or the morning.

if your b.p was a major issue your doctor would have already suggested to induce you... I think you need to just let your baby come when he/she is ready.
