A shoulder is a great thing to have. Make sure when giving here advice to make it is as positive as possible, no bad mouthing the ex. Meeting new people in the right places always helps (No clubs or Bars), and soon she will realize that it is not the end of the world.
Good luck!

You're doing well by simply being there to listen to her out pourings of heart ache. Look into some fun positive activities and maybe guide her to seek interest in them. Yes, the church is a very good place to seek solace as well, but surely there are other activities and hobbies to look into--and quite possibly discover hidden talents into them.
Be sure to let her know that on the positive side of such divorce, the courts DO favor her and that her divorce doesn't end HER world; it end's his.....deservedly so for tearing her paper lace heart.

Going thru a divorce is extremely emotional. Your friend is grateful to have you by her side. The rule of thumb that my friends and I have followed when someone breaks up or divorces is:
-Movie night..either comedy or romance. If romance, make sure there's plenty of tissues handy and ice cream :o)
-Massage - going to a day spa or a massage parlor is great for stress relief.
Get her out of the house and involved in something that interests her. The less she has time to dwell about her situation, the better she'll feel.

Being someone who will listen is the very best you can do.
No advice you give can really help (unless their are legal implications then specialist advice needs to be sought.)
Suggesting things that might help take her mind off things may help her too.... so take her to the cinema, or go shopping together... or play some sports with her... all helps a little.

The best thing you can do is be there for her. Get her out of the house and involved in doing things whenever you can. If you go shopping, invite her. Even if it's just getting together for lunch. Let her know that you care.. with your support, everything should work out fine.

i agree with everyones answers, you are being great just being there..the only thing i would add is include her in your life still, invite her for tea, or whatever you did before, sometimes friends feel awkward inviting divorced people to couple evenings but it is nice to still be invited even if she turns you down. and give her time, dont expect her to be better in a few weeks, its a long process, but she will appreciate you forever for being her true friend.

Well I can't help if I don't know what is shes going through. Tell her to pray and ask god to help her to except the things she can not change.
