i got a pair of paper and enim pants and on the back pocket it has the size sewn on so i ripped off the size (kind of like a tag on a pillow) and the black line is still there. i was wondering if this is supossed to be there or can i cut the string and remove it?

If the string is cut, you will unleash an irreversible series of global events in which many will perish. That's how global warming started. The GEICO caveman tore a tag out of his fur leisure suit . . . what a pitty.

if it is on a seam do not rip it out....but if its like on the pocket...take a small scissors and cut the strings away.....if you are scared that it is going to ruin the jeans take it to a cleaners and im sure they can get it out for you...also if you have sewn before there are things called "seam rippers" and yes you can use it for other things than ripping out a seam..if the thread is still on there you slide the seam ripper under neath the thread and it cuts it for you....
