There are standard allowances. Travel and subsistence, certainly. Loss of earnings only if these are deducted from your salary.
If you are an expert witness, then you charge an enormous fee in adition to travel and subsistence.

Firstly accommadation is arranged by the CPS so if you have to travel any great distance and may need to stay over, you need to speak to the witness care officer for the case you are involved with.
You will be given a witness expense claim form at Crown Court, on that you will be able to claim an allowance for loss of earnings and you can claim meal allowances.
Its worth noting that the LWAC is timed on arrival and when the court discharges you, and this is sent to CPS finance dept for payments.
You can request an expenses form from CPS before court and there is an explanation sheet in it that gives you a breakdown of what you can claim.
Hope this helps

Travelling, meals, refreshments and any other out of pocket expenses you might incur eg, loss of earnings, hotel costs if you live out of town. Make sure you keep receipts though.

They should give you a form and explanation notes when you attend to let you know exactly what you can claim
