I took it to the dry cleaners and they couldn't get it out. Have only worn the dress once so don't want to throw it away. Please help.

Silk is rather delicate to treat.
Like my organza jacket/overshirt.
I had stains on it and discovered it 4 years later.
I moistened the patched that was stained
Rubbed a vanish soap bar on it.
Then soaked it in warm soapy water.
The stain came off.
Rinsed and drip dried it.
You could try this treatment & re-treat it if necessary before drip-drying it.
I hope it will work for you.
Good Luck!

A lot of silk is actually washable but depending on the type and colour you should be careful. Talcum powder is useful for absorbing greasy stains but since it seems like it's been on the dress for a while then it might not work. My most success has been with a little washing up liquid and a sponge. Cuts grease well but don't over wet the fabric if you can help unless it's a thin washed silk that can take a little cold water.

if it's a greasy stain try putting a brown paper bag over it and then ironing it and see if it will come out.
if you had a book on stains you could look it up. vinegar is a good thing for getting rid of stains good luck

hmmm....if they can't get it out then that's a bit tough...maybe take it to a clothes designer and ask them if they can recommend anything...You could make a nice little patch over it (not as in ugly patch) something that would suit the dress, it depends where the stain is...

Depends what chinese the stain is. Is it grease? Is it that red sauce from ribs?

If it's grease, vanish or something although I rub neat fairy liquid into grease stains and it works a treat.

sure you will would desire to re-dye it. i might use a coloration remover first to get all the colour out then redye it to which coloration you prefer it. yet while it incredibly is an costly gown, i might look for some expert suggestions. pass to a dry cleaners and ask them.
