Where he appears foolish:
In appreciation for Odysseus's fascinating stories, King Aeolus gave Odysseus a bag filled with the all the winds but the one to lead him home. Odysseus did not tell his crew members about the bag, and they suspected that...since Odysseus spent the entire voyage guarding the bag...it must be filled with treasure. His sailors decided to open it as soon as Odysseus fell asleep - just before they reached home. The winds exploded out of the bag, and a violent storm blew them straight back to the kingdom of Aeolus, who refused to provide any more help because he thought they must be cursed by the gods. Had Odysseus simply told the men about the bag and its contents, they would have been home.

Where he appears wise:
Odysseus appears wise in his dealings with the cyclops. When the cyclops traps Odysseus and his men in his cave, and begins eating them...Odysseus offers him a bag of wine. The cyclops asks Odysseus his name, but the wily Odysseus tells him his name is "No man". The cyclops tells him that, in gratitude for his gift, he will eat "No man" last. After drinking the entire wineskin full, the cyclops falls into a deep, drunken sleep. The men plunge a sharpened stake into his single eye, and the other cyclops in the area are drawn to his loud, painful roars. They ask if someone is hurting him, and he roars out that "No man is killing me!" The other cyclops figure that if "no man" is killing him, then it must be the gods...so they leave.

figuring out how to escape the cyclops was pretty wise, there is also much wisdom near the end when he returns to deal with the suitors. He appears quite foolish when (I am pretty sure) he gets fooled on the island of the lotus eaters for a while, eating the lotus and forgetting everything, also when whats her name, the witch goddess lady ensnares him, but in the end of that instance I believe he shows wisdom, hope it helps...

When he is suckered by the women and loses several years when he thinks there is only a little time.

When he tricks the suitors outside his home and defeats them.
