american idol worshippers is the most over rated junk on television and simon cowell is an idiot just like that fool, ryan seacrest! just what acting abilities do this morons possess? and if people do not like my opinion, tough crap! because american idol is!! a waste of television space, despite the money involved!

People who have nothing better to do than watch TV and eat gallons of ice cream have to have something to watch.
Simon does have business talent, he's a millionaire.
I agree the show sucks. Like vocalist are the be all end all of the music world. What about guitarist, drummers, bassest, etc. People only watch it to A. See the talentless jerks get mocked by Simon and cry. B. To vote for their favorite who they may not even think is a good singer. They may just vote because they think they're cute or they feel sorry for them. Its just BS. But the world is full of people with nothing better to do than live through the TV and get fatter, so thats why the show is a success.

You must be into one of the following to think that way: Hillbilly,Punk Rock, Opera, Rap,Alternative, Folk or some other non-main stream type of music. Though some of them have some merit. Idol represents POP music and this year has the best in female singers ever. Of POP music!!!! Simon is a music producer, promoter and he has a rep. for coming up with money making performers before he came to IDOL. He comes across like a jerk, but is just brutally honest. You come across like a jerk yourself in your question, so you are in good company. Ryan is a DJ and does that job in the image of the legend Dick Clark. As someone who has sung, Country, Pop, and blues myself I couldn't disagree with you more on all your assertions.

I've only watched the show once or twice, but from what I saw, I don't think he necessarily has to have a lot of talent - he just has to be able to judge talent. Just because you want to be a good jockey doesn't mean you've had to have been a horse at some time in the past. Athletic coaches are a good example - some of the best of them were just mediocre players.

if not this show, there will always be something out there that catches the American public eye.
as far as Simon goes... hes honest to the point of being cruel... that's life, its not all roses and butterflies... better these people find out from a music exec... rather than being mislead their whole life.
