The history of rap in the 80's is that it all sounded like it was recorded in a garage by a bunch of pot smokin high school kids.

I know back in around 1985 the mainstream rappers were Run DMC (Walk this Way) and the Beastie Boys (Fight for your Right to Party). I know they weren't the first ones to "rap", but they are the ones that brought rap to the average American household.

In the latter part of the 80's, more rappers emerged in the mainstream- some off the top of my head are Digital Underground, Easy E, Too Short, 2 Live Crew, Luke Skywalker, and Sir Mix Alot.

Hate to break it to you, but "Old School Rap" was invented by guys like Johnny Cash, (One Piece at a Time, Boy Named Sue, others) Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, (Hot Rod Lincoln) and other country/rock folks. (Uneasy Rider, many others.) These guys did not refer to women as "ho's" but they did break the law in other ways---fighting, speeding, stealing car parts.
