You can get rid of grubs with beneficial nematodes. They are microorganisms that feed off larva from fire ants, fleas, and grubs. You'll probably have to check with an organic gardening center to find it.

"oh those grubs just disgust me. i can hardly look at them. where they sell garden supplies, as potting soil, topsoils will no doubt have something to alleviate the problem. good luck bettyk " Topsoil won't do anything besides give the grubs a nicer home. Like jim said, nematodes (brand named Milky Spore) will kill grubs but may take several applications over 3 seasons to be effective. Once established in the soil that product remains effective for up to 10 years.

You can set loose a few moles and they will take care of the grub problem, then you have a mole problem.

There are insect killers (scotts makes one) that will kill or repel grubs. Check with your local Home Depot.....

1. don't discourage moles. Moles do not eat plants and their tunnels don't do any serious damage. You can just push the soil back into place with your foot.

2. hand pick all japanese beetles and drop them into soapy water. (Actually I knock them off with a spoon) There willl be fewer to breed, and fewer grubs.
