Placement in American high schools is determined by previous credits completed. The counselor at the school to which you will attend will evaluate your record from your previous school. Other factors that are taken in to consideration in placing international students--date of birth, level of English proficiency. Standardized test scores are generally not part of the picture as that is not their purpose. If the school you will attend has some experience in placing international students they may also consult a table which compares the American academic system with others in the world. I am a school counselor in an American school with a large international enrollment--this is how we do it.
