I am soooo excited me and my boyfriend are going on our first cruise in exactly a week! It is a 5 day cruise so there is one formal night so I am a little worried about how to dress. I was thinking something kind of long and silky, maybe no straps or something that is low in the back. Does this sound ok? Also what about the guys? Do they wear tuxedos? There is supposed to be a place to get your hair fixed on the ship but I was wondering if anyone who has gone before knows how dependable you can be with this? I was thinking there may be alot of people waiting to get this done and it may be full??

Any formal evening dress will be fine. What you described sounds acceptable. Most men just wear a suit, but some will wear a tux. There is a hair salon on board but they are expensive. I dont know about Carnival, but the ships I have been on run about $80 for an up-do. There will be a long list on formal night so make your reservation as soon as you board and make sure you show up on time. They will be crowded and will not wait for you if you are late.

I've been on 3 Carnival Cruises. Ladies wear varies from cocktail dresses to evening gowns and prom and bridesmaid styles too. Most men wear a dark suit, dress shirt and tie, a few wear tuxes they look very nice but are not required.

Suit and tie is a must. Tuxedo might be a little much for Carnival. The dress you described sounds great.
