I've come to the conclusion that I sure can't do it. I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow. It's really difficult. Once I walked for 30 minutes and got a migraine. A few times I've done it my morning sickness came back the next day. If you over exert yourself you will feel like crap. You are not supposed to get your heart rate up over 140 beats per minute because you could overheat. I'd recommend walking for 20 to 30 minutes a day whenever you can. Don't overdue it, some women just can't handle it. Don't feel bad, just don't gain more than 30 to 40 lbs and your baby will be completely healthy. Well in regards to your physical fitness that is.

This is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy I did NOTHING, and I suffered!
During the last 2 months of my pregnancy, I couldn't hardly move! I decided to walk during my next pregnancy.
You don't have to walk fast on the treadmill.
If you live in the usa, and you itemize your deductions, you can get a doc to write a note saying that the treadmill is absolutely necessary for physical therapy during pregnancy, and you can take a nice writeoff for the cost of the treadmill at the end of the year.
Start by walking 20 minutes 3 times per week.
Build up to 45 minutes to 1 hour every other day (3-4 times per week)
Make sure you do some good stretching afterwards.

If you can't do 45 minutes 7 days of the week, start off slower and work your way up to that. Do 20 minutes 7 days a week instead of 45 for 3-4 days until you can get up to what your doctor said. I'm pregnant and still use the eliptical everyday. It is so important to stay fit, and for people who say they are to tired you would be surprised how much more energy you'd have if you worked out. If you can keep your body in shape under all that baby stuff going on, it will help make your labor easier then if you do nothing and it will be that much easier to get that baby weight off after birth.

My doctor told me not to exceed 30 minutes with any workout. I walk 2.5 blocks to work every day, and come back home for lunch, while also going to the post office. That covers my 30 minutes of walking, broken up into about 5-10 minute increments. Why don't you just try walking around the block or so? You don't have to do the 40 minutes all at once. I find it much better to be outside exploring the scenery than indoors going nowhere. If your doctor says you def. need the exercise, I would make the effort, starting off slowly at first and then building up gradually. Good luck!

Not me, i wouldn't have the energy for that! I am 30 weeks pregnant & struggle to get up in the mornings for my full time job let alone excercise 40 minutes a day too! I am also working until 2 weeks before my due date so I couldn't realistically keep that up. Dont feel guilty hunni, as long as you are resting & eating healthily baby will be fine! These people that advise crap like that are not realistic people & have probably never been pregnant & dont know how tiring carrying the baby is on its own! xxx

I think you could exercise for an hour or so but the MAIN THING is is to not let your heartrate exceed 140 beats per minute. That is the point where your baby will have to compete with you to get enough oxygen.

I walk about 25-30 minutes about 5 days a week, and my doc says that's fine. Do what you're comfortable with. There's no way I'd be exercising as much as your doc says...I'm too tired, and I'm sure you are too.
