What is with the short-hand typing that everyone is using? I suspect its mostly tweens and teens, but I can't friggin understand most of it!! I think a lot of them need to take a typing class in school!!!

I don't know. I find it takes more time to try to type in the "text message" language. It just seems easier to spell things correctly and use proper grammar.

I don't do it here because some people seem to have such an allergy to it. But it's convenient and it saves time (like any other shorthand...)
lots of kids do it because they basically grew up in a wired culture, and it's super-common in chatrooms, instant messaging, etc.

i'm 52 years old (i'd have typed y.o., but didn't want to upset you) and new to the internet. these kids grew up typing, and texting, and i don't see a darned thing wrong with their shorthand. if i want to communicate with them, it's MY job to learn the lingo, just as people say immigrants should learn English. if i weren't the 15 or lower poster to this question, i'd prolly (sorry!) get 20 or more thumbs up!

You are oh so right !!! I took shorthand in highschool, and it looked nothin' like this.
