The spasm usually last a few seconds and is located maybe a quarter inch above my chin, on my jaw line. No pain is emitted, but is uncomfortable and annoying.

You may have TMJ or nighttime teeth grinding. Usually done while asleep. Are you stressed out right now? Talk to a dentist, especially if this condition lasts a few weeks or more.

It sounds like TMJ pain, are you grinding your teeth at night? Get one of those night guards.
