Hello C,
Here's instructions for a Ryobi electric trimmer model.
They're all the same ,far as re-stringing.
The line is .080"
It's on page 14
http://oneworld1.inetu.net/manuals/ryobi/ryobioutdoor/ZRRY41002_624_eng.pdf
Here's Ryobi's trimmer page
http://www.ryobitools.com/outdoortools/category/C14/
It's lots simpler than it sounds.
Just a TIP:not really necessary.
When I replace string,,
after pushing it thru the hole on the spool,,
I melt the tip end of the string with a cigarette lighter.
That makes a little bead which retains the string much better,,especially as it wears down and gets shorter.
On my machine,,there's not enough room for an actual bead.
So I "smash" the end flat with the lighter,,while the plastic string is still molten/soft.
It makes a sort of "nail-head" effect,,flat & thin bead which still prevents the string from pulling thru the hole.
Careful of burns if you chose to do that.
............
Also,,and you may be aware of this>
You can adjust the handle position to fit your stature,,
so that You aren't in an akward posture.
Simply loosen the nut(usually a Wing-nut,sorta knob) on the handle,,,re-position to prefference,,tighten nut
Hope that helps,,,Dont wear yourself out:)
**Wear Safety Glasses/Goggles,,,Without Fail.
"Regular" eyeglasses/sunglasses are better than nothing,,Barely.
I can't count the times a string trimmer has thrown stuff Behind regular glasses.
Good solid shoes too.
They cant cut your toesies off,,,but it you happen to whack 'em it stings Very bad for several minutes.

any kinda of string is fine. But there should be two little buttons on the head (part that spins) push them and pull the bottom off. when you get that off cut some string off and wind it clock wise around the part you took off ( there should be arrows that also show the right direction) and slide the end of it back thou the little hole on the weed wipe and snap head back on trimmer. That should be all.

Once you have the spool on you start it and hit it on the ground and some string comes out. ( The hit in on the gound part is why its called a bump and feed trimmer) If you to that too much it will be long enough to trip it self off on the shield.

It's almost impossible to conserve. Once you hit a rock or metal fencing the line will lose some. Try staying a bit farther away with it til its small and then hit the rougher spots in your yard. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Take it to the garden center of the place you purchased it or if you don't know where you purchased it take it to almost any hardware store that sells lawn equipment and tell them your problem. They will tell you what you need and show you how to thread it. They can show you a lot easier than someone can try to tell you. You will also have the product you need to cut the weeds with.
