The basics I took from the movie was:
Freedom isn't free. The free Spartans are under threat from the dark, anti-freedom, soulless Persians. Even if it is unpopular, the decider King goes to war anyway. If you don't support sending more troops you are a traitor. The weak hunchback (liberal) Spartan tries to use "reason" but is also a traitor. Oh yeah, and freedom isn't free.

Did Karl Rove leak this script to Hollywood?

Stone K. By applying the messages from 300 into the current war, you are useing the very propaganda I am pointing out.

Karl Rove has a hard enough time writing his name on his paychecks, much less a compelling script

Concerning you attacking someone for supposedly referencing Iraq... Is that not the basis of your question in the first place?

So I will answer it for you anyways. First of all, no, Karl Rove did not leak this script to Hollywood. If you think Karl Rove invented the idea that "Freedom isn't free" then you really need to take a course in history.

If I remember correctly, the decision to go to war in Iraq was not unpopular in America at the time. In fact, a large majority of Americans in both political parties supported it. So it cannot be called unpopular. Unpopular abroad is another story altogether.

By the way, did you even watch the movie, or did you just read talking points concerning it?

wow... so suddenly anytime some one does something unpopular that involves war it is about bush?

you know back in the 1930's Churchill warned about a war with Germany, it was very unpopular and people say he forced a war... and he used to make speeches about the cost of freedom and liberty... i guess he was using Karl rove too huh?

Its is a movie... it is loosely based on historical events and it is loosely based on Frank miller's graphic novel.

you know there may very well be a message in there for you, sometime fighting is necessary if you want to save the things you love. wow what a horrible message....

you spent to much time looking for political boogie men and not enough time watching the film.

Who knew fighting for things you loved and sacrificing despite the odds is a republican thing...

actually i am starting to find that theory less and less surprising.

Add on:

Apparently you did not actually read my comment... I never once mentioned Iraq.

And apparently you never watch war movies a lot of them have the same message as well.

it seems to me your anti-war mindset makes you blind to the fact that there are people who fight and die based on their love of their home, country and family. that's not a new idea, it is something that has been true since the dawn of human history. that's called a fact, not propaganda, and any one who actually studied war or history, like i have for 30 years, or even just in passing would know that.

What I see is a guy too caught up in his own politics to see 1) a movie based on historical events and 2) a piece of entertainment.

I am so sorry there are not more movies with a liberal bias you can watch to entertain your self with... I mean there must be thousands of movies all with evil republican ideals just spewing out all over the place... where oh where can you find movies that show how evil the republicans really are? who in Hollywood would ever produce a film like that?

I guess you are doomed to wander the isles of blockbuster never to see a movie that is totally biased against anything that would be considered republican.

congratulations you discovered the great Hollywood secret... it is full of republicans and they are trying to imprint evil thoughts like sacrifice, honor and determination in to the world...

damn... and they were so close to having every one brainwashed....

And since you did not actually read my message anyhow, i doubt you would even read this... typical lib bull... misread what some one said, make wild claims, claim moral superiority, ignore the facts, then run and hide feeling superior the whole time... typical...

No. The chances of Hollywood making a movie based on a script from someone in the Bush administration is very low!

It is actually based on a true story.

No, it was written from the graphic novel by Frank Miller. He also did Sin City. Not all movies have to do with current events. Some are just fun, gory bloodbaths.

Sadly, no. When asked what was the last thing he ever saw on PBS, Karl Rove was reported as saying, "PBS? is that some kind of Ann Coulter 'female problem'?"
