Because we have double standards. If a woman dresses in men's clothes, she looks like she is being comfortable or trying a new style. If a man dresses in a woman's clothes, then he looks effeminate or gay, and many people just are not comfortable with that. Personally, I would just LOVE for a man to wear nylons, a short dress and high heels for a day. Those are so uncomfortable, yet very attractive. We women have to endure a lot of discomfort in the name of trying to look good. It sure would make my day to know that a man appreciates what we do for them when we dress in uncomfortable clothing, so if a man would be willing to wear high heels, nylons and a short dress for just one day, I would not think anything bad about him - I would thank him!

Because women are not respected. So they may wear whatever they choose and it will be "understandable" since they are a "lower life form".
