I work security at the club every weekend. Well lately they have been blowing me off since the club hasn't had business. So i offered to quit cause i am not gonna be told that i am going to work and 2 hours later since there's no business they send me home.
I told my boss that i am tired of gettin called to work, i show up then i get sent home!!!
By the way i check ID's at the door.
So my boss doesn't want me to go since i speak both english and spanish.. Do you think i am getting used??????? Or should I quit.?

i have worked at the door many times, and i feel that we are being exploited by our bosses, . do not do something hasty, find another job offer and then leave them. Do not feel bad by leaving your boss because he wouldn't feel bad letting you go. it is a business when the profit and the interest comes first and the human contact and relationship second. The only freedom that we have is the freedom of making our own choices. Use this. If this doesn't feel wright then it has to be wrong.

Be strong my friend.

I would quit if you are not being paid for the full time you are supposed to be there (for example if your shift is from 10pm-4am, and they send you home at 1am, you should get paid for 1am-4am). If you do quit but need the money, make sure you have another job lined up so it doesn't affect your financial position. If the job is just for extra money, you should quit. It's not really ethical to tell an employee that they have to work a certain number of hours and then send them home early without paying for hours the employer has committed to.

Tell your boss that you would like a more dependable schedule - if he schedules you for a four-hour evening, he should pay you for a four-hour evening, even if he sends you home early.
Legally, he probably has the right to cancel your shift and not pay you, but you also have the right to quit if you're not happy with the situation. Try to quit on a positive note, though, and get a letter of recommendation from him to help you land a new job.

You should do what you feel is right for you. I don't think you are being used, per se. They are covering their bases for a busy night and then it turns out to not be so busy and ask you to go home. That is good business. It's up to you what you want to do with that. Can you live with 2 hours every now and then? Probably not.

If I were you I would find another job. It sounds like you are going around in circles with that job. Try to stick it out a little longer if you think things will change. From the looks of it things aren't going to change so be on the look out for a better job.

I think quitting would be the best for you. How can you even manage to live with so little hours of work. You are a convience to them. There are lots of good jobs for people that want to work, and employers who appreciate them.

I would look around and see if you could find another job with more hours. But, if he doesn't want you to leave then ask him to pay you more money.

Tell your boss you have bills that need to be paid. Let him know that you want to work for him but if there's not enough work, you will be forced to find work elsewhere; nothing personal, but you have responsibilies.
