I am 36 weeks pregnant...went to doctor and they said that my cervix is nice and soft and only about 1.5 cm long. She said she could get a finger in there if she really wanted too...but saw no point bc my contraction were not long enough on the monitor. Baby has dropped over the past week. She and the other doctors say about two weeks, that they think a 38 weeker!!!

What does that mean?? How can she tell that, if I am not even dilated!!!

I am walking about an hour a day, and I move a lot during the day. My hubby and I are having sex pretty much every other day!!! I am ready to this guy out of me!!!

What do you think?? Are they just guessing or do they really know??? Thanks!!!

What they are doing is making an 'informed guess' ... they know what 'other mothers have done' and 'how long it takes' to get from 'where you are' (an impatient mom-to-be) to 'full labor' with a nice 'prize' at the end ... your new baby. You'll 'know' the baby is 'coming soon' when you have the 'undeniable urge' to 'nest' ... you'll have LOTS of energy and will want to 'clean house' (even in the middle of the night) no matter how 'clean' or 'dirty' your house is. Your 'contractions' are called Braxton-Hicks and they are the 'exercises' your uterus does to get itself 'ready' for the 'real labor contractions.' Relax, have some fun (but don't drink alcohol ... it can HURT the baby) and you'll be a 'new mom' before you know it.

sweetie it's all pretty much guessing here, but they are around it and deal with it every day so they pretty well know about when to expect it by a physical exam like you had.I would say they are right you will deliver with in 2 weeks good luck and best wishes, also keep up the walking and the s*x as long as the Dr says its ok that will definitely help you go faster

They know. They see it all the time.

Being soft, semi-dialated, dropping...yup, it will happen soon. 2 weeks is as good as a guess as anything because the baby will come when it wants to, not when you want it to. I would lay off the sex (or use a condom), because you wouldn't want the baby swimming through...er...stuff...when it does finally come.

Hang in there. It will happen.
