It was the Asiatic Plate (and I'm not sure if that is the correct name for it) and the Indo-Australian Plate. As the sub-continent of India is being subducted under the continent of Asia, (earthquake) movement has to occur. The type of motion was probably strike-slip, transverse fault movement, since that is a major reliever of stress in the Himalaya Mountains.

whenever an earthquake occurs wherever it may be, only the earth's tectonic plates shake.

WELL, here goes, The plates that moved were HA BIB'S on the corner of Bombay and 5Th street. MAN, you should of seen him!!! Man was he mad!! Plates all over the floor and stuff! It took that man 3 days to clean up!!!!!!
