Rent, or even look into purchasing a steam carpet cleaner. There are products you can add to the cleaning solution that are targeted to get rid of odors. I get these products at ACO at a very reasonable price, and it works great. Also for pet odors.

Baking soda made into a paste if the the smell is still there but the incedent is not wet.....if it's still wet, dry baking soda to let it absorbe the moister and the oder, let dry then vacume. if that doesn't help to get the smell out Fabrizee works wonders as well as an oder elminator called Zero. Hope it helps.

There are several sprays and shampoos that will claim to cover or remove smells. In addition, a good rental steam cleaner (any grocery store has 'em) will do wonders for both stains and smells.

I don't remember the name of the stuff but it was in a pink and white bottle and it took out every funky little baby smell my kids could put out. I put a small amount in every load of laundry and cleaned all the little spills they could put out, and the smell was gone.
